Property photography accessibility: plan the visit
Plan practical access and communication needs before the property photography appointment.
Property Photo Match editorial team · Updated 7 November 2026

Property photography accessibility starts with the practical needs of the people involved and the route through the property. Raise those needs when the appointment is planned so the team can confirm a workable arrangement.
Ask what will make the visit easier
The agent, owner or authorised occupant may need a particular communication method, a quieter arrival, more time to answer the door or advance notice of who is attending. Share the relevant practical request without asking someone to disclose a diagnosis in a public enquiry.
Explain who will be at the property and who can answer questions during the visit. If a support person is involved, confirm their role with the occupant’s agreement. The photographer needs a clear contact, not a collection of private information unrelated to the shoot.
Describe the access route
Mention stairs, narrow entrances, lifts, parking restrictions and separate buildings. These details can affect equipment movement and scheduling. If a room cannot be safely reached, discuss the scope rather than promising that every area will be photographed regardless of access.
For an apartment, include the route from the building entrance to the unit. For a rural property, explain gates and the approach. Confirm any arrangements for assistance through the appropriate property contact instead of expecting the photographer to improvise on arrival.
Plan around occupancy
Some occupants may prefer not to be in photographed rooms. Agree a sequence that gives them a comfortable place to wait where practicable. Clarify pets, essential equipment and items that must remain in place. Preparation should support a workable shoot rather than require a person to remove something they need.
If the property will be advertised while occupied, the responsible agent or property manager should arrange the applicable access and photography permissions. Accessibility planning sits alongside those arrangements; it does not replace them.
Keep the communication clear
Confirm the arrival window, contact method, rooms included and what happens if circumstances change. Avoid relying entirely on a phone call when the nominated person has asked for written communication. Keep the agreed notes available to the people actually attending.
Tell our team the suburb, property type and any practical access or communication needs when enquiring. We can discuss what is feasible before confirming the appointment. There is no need to put medical records, security codes or unnecessary personal details into the initial form.
