Real estate video shot list: brief the story first
Create a property video brief covering essential spaces, agent speech, versions and approval.

A real estate video shot list should describe the property story, the spaces that support it and the finished versions the campaign needs. It is a planning brief, not a promise that every requested shot is possible on site.
Define the finished video
Start with purpose: a principal listing film, a short social reel, an agent introduction or a combination. Tell the videographer where each version will be published and whether it needs landscape or portrait framing. A single shoot may support several outputs, but each output needs an agreed edit and scope.
Identify the main audience and the property’s most useful features. “Show everything” gives less direction than “explain how the living room opens to the deck, then show the separate studio.” The latter helps the videographer organise transitions and decide which relationships need to be visible.
Separate essential views from details
List the key rooms, outdoor connections and any separate accommodation. Mark the views that are important to understanding the property. A feature fireplace, kitchen detail or garden texture can add variety, but should not consume the time needed to record the main living spaces.
Flag areas that cannot be shown or will not be ready. Do not promise a view from a locked room or a drone sequence before the relevant access and flight checks have been made. If construction is incomplete, discuss realistic options rather than expecting the edit to create a finished property.
Plan people and sound
If an agent will appear, agree who speaks, where the introduction happens and whether the script needs approval. Read the words aloud before the day. A short, natural introduction is often easier to deliver than a densely written brochure paragraph.
Tell the videographer about likely interruptions, occupied rooms and other contractors. Keep a suitable quiet window for recorded speech where possible. If a tenant, family member or staff member could appear, arrange the appropriate permissions before including them in the plan.
Agree the review stage
Nominate one person to consolidate feedback on the first edit. Specify corrections by timecode and describe the desired change. Separate a factual correction from a new creative direction or an additional version; the latter may change the agreed scope.
Send our team the property type, intended channels and publication date with your enquiry. We can confirm the available video scope with JR Photo & Video and prepare a shot brief around what the campaign actually needs.
